Coaching agreement
Draft for review by Hazem Salah and a qualified lawyer before use.
This agreement explains how we will work together. It follows the International Coaching Federation (ICF) Code of Ethics 2025. Please read it calmly before our first session, and ask me about anything that isn’t clear.
1. What coaching is, and what it isn’t
Coaching is a partnership between us that helps you see your situation clearly, understand your patterns and expectations, and reach your own decisions. I don’t tell you what to do, and I don’t push you towards staying, leaving, marrying or separating.
Coaching is not therapy, and it is not medical, legal, financial or religious advice, nor a substitute for them. I am a credentialed coach, not a licensed doctor or therapist. If something in our work suggests you need clinical support, such as depression, addiction, abuse, or a risk to your safety or someone else’s, I will tell you clearly, help you think about reaching a licensed professional, and we may agree to pause or stop coaching.
I don’t promise particular outcomes. What you reach depends on your circumstances and on what you choose.
2. Roles and responsibilities
My role: to listen carefully, ask questions that help you think, offer suitable tools, keep what you share confidential, act honestly and with integrity, and tell you if I believe coaching is no longer right for you.
Your role: to attend sessions on time, take part honestly, take responsibility for your decisions, actions and their results, and tell me if anything about how we work isn’t right for you.
3. Confidentiality and its limits
What you share with me is confidential. I will not disclose it to anyone except:
- where the law requires it, or a competent court or authority orders it;
- where there is a serious and imminent risk to your life or safety, or to someone else’s;
- where you give written consent to share specific information with a specific person.
I may discuss work in a fully anonymised form with a professional supervisor for supervision and development, without any detail that could identify you.
4. Couples sessions and the Couple Audit
- In the Compatibility Audit, each partner completes a private questionnaire. Your individual answers are never shown to your partner unless you both agree in writing to share them.
- The Clarity Report summarises themes: areas of alignment, differences and open questions. It does not quote either partner’s answers.
- In joint sessions I treat both partners fairly and don’t take sides.
- If one partner speaks with me individually, I won’t pass on what they said without their consent. If something I learn would make it unfair for me to keep working with you both, I will tell you so without revealing the details.
5. Session format and timing
Sessions take place online or in person in Egypt, in Arabic or English, as we agree. Sessions start and end on time; if you arrive late, the session is extended only if my schedule allows. The Compatibility Audit session lasts 90 minutes. Sessions are never recorded without the written consent of everyone present.
6. Fees and payment
Fees are shown at booking in Egyptian pounds (EGP), Saudi riyals (SAR) or US dollars (USD). A booking is confirmed once payment is complete, unless we agree otherwise in writing.
7. Cancellation and rescheduling
- 24 hours or more before the session: full refund or free reschedule.
- Between 6 and 24 hours before: 50% refund.
- Less than 6 hours before, or no-show: no refund.
- Compatibility Audit questionnaires are non-refundable once both have been submitted.
If I have to cancel a session, I will offer you a new time or a full refund.
8. Your right to end coaching
You may end coaching at any time, for any reason, by telling me in writing. The refund policy applies to sessions already booked. I may also end our work if I believe coaching is no longer right for you; I will explain why and suggest suitable alternatives where I can.
9. Records
I keep session notes, questionnaire answers and reports securely, accessible only to me and anyone working with me with your consent. I delete these records 24 months after our last session, or earlier if you ask, except where the law requires me to keep something, such as payment records. See the privacy notice for details.
10. The Relationship Dynamics Lab (optional)
The Relationship Dynamics Lab is an optional add-on to the Couple Audit only. It lasts 60–75 minutes and is run by a licensed specialist working with me. It involves structured observation of how you interact, through calm activities. The specialist is bound by the same confidentiality. The Lab only takes place after its details have been explained and you have both agreed in writing, and either of you may withdraw at any time. Its findings are included in your Clarity Report.
11. Complaints
If something about my work concerns you, please tell me first at [email protected] and I will reply within five business days. You also have the right to raise an ethics complaint with the ICF through its ethics complaints page.
12. Acceptance
By accepting this agreement, you confirm that you have read and understood it and agree to work on this basis. You can ask me for a copy at any time.
